Immerse yourself in the Venetian summer
SUMMER IS COMING: BEACHES, EVENTS, AND MUCH MORE
Summer is approaching, the spring warmth is giving way to the heat, and Venice and its Lido are ready to offer you their company. May prepares the city and its islands for the new season, with the first openings of beaches and bathing establishments, and many other activities that will be brightened by the sunbeams and the amazing sunsets that only the Venetian Lagoon can offer.
Among the traditional events, the Feast of Ascension stands out, which every year brings back the millennia-old history of the Serenissima and its intimate relationship with the sea and the practice of Venetian rowing. On Sunday, May 12, the rowing procession will depart from San Marco and arrive at the Lido. Repeating the verses of the Marriage of the Sea (We marry you, our sea, as a sign of true and perpetual dominion), the symbolic golden ring will be thrown into the waves, symbolizing the mystical marriage of the city with the waters. All information can be found here.
On May 18, the BLUEPOOL Swimming Pool will finally open, equipped with every comfort and surrounded by trees. This will be followed on May 28 by the opening of the LUNGOMARE and SAN NICOLÒ beaches, which stretch along the coast and are ideal for summer holidays with friends and family. You can find out more about them here.
From May 29 to June 2, the Arsenale will host the fifth edition of the Venice Boat Show, organized by Vela Spa on behalf of the Municipality of Venice and in collaboration with the Italian Navy. The last edition saw the participation of over 30,000 visitors from across the Adriatic basin, confirming the centrality of the event in this sector. Learn more about the history of the Boat Show and the schedule here.
On June 9, the Venice Open Water – Nuadalogna returns, the most anticipated race of the year, starting from the Blue Moon bathing establishment on the Lido di Venezia. The race village will be open from the morning, and it will be possible to compete in three different categories: SwimSprint, non-competitive and open to non-professional athletes as well; SwimTheMile and Swim3.5k, competitive and therefore open only to professional athletes.
One of the most anticipated events of the summer is undoubtedly the Feast of the Redemeer, celebrated with the classic fireworks that will once again illuminate the sky above the San Marco basin. This festival is very important to the Venetians, combining both the spectacular aspect and the religious one, as well as the opportunity to remember the end of the terrible plague epidemic that struck Venice between 1575 and 1577. The program will be available soon here.
An exciting summer is forecasted, full of events ready to offer their company to the Venetians, and beyond. We are waiting for you.
