“To the East. Marco Polo’s amazing journey”: the Venice Carnival begins on 27 January 2024
On January 27, the whole lagoon is colored and is preparing to celebrate Carnival.
From 27 January to 13 February 2024, one of the most felt and colorful festivals of the territory returns to Venice, the islands and the mainland: the Carnival!
With the evocative title “To the East. Marco Polo’s amazing journey”, the Venice Carnival 2024 celebrates one of its greatest travellers. On the occasion of the 700 years since his death, Marco Polo returns to the lagoon as a protagonist and with him the theme of travel and the encounter with new worlds. A journey not only physical, but also interior in search of themselves, always different from when you left.
Saturday, January 27, the Carnival Street Show, the widespread carnival that will animate the entire lagoon, officially kicks off the celebrations and a series of exciting events not to be missed and a few stops by vaporetto from the Lido. Sunday, January 28, the characteristic water parade of traditional boats will parade from Punta della Dogana to Rialto.
The Lido also has its Carnival: from 9 to 11 February it will turn into the island of masks with a rich program of events that will animate the whole weekend. Markets, stalls, music and shows, including the inevitable parade of floats scheduled for Friday, February 9, from 15 along the Grand Avenue Santa Maria Elisabetta.
