67th International Festival of Contemporary Music

Micro-Music, 2023 International Festival of Contemporary Music

The 67th International Festival of Contemporary Music, titled Micro-Music and dedicated to digital sound and to its production and diffusion in the acoustic space, will run from 16-29 October 2023, directed by Lucia Ronchetti.

 

The Festival will include world premieres of works by Brian Eno (Golden Lion), Miller Puckette (Silver Lion), Francesca Verunelli, Joanna Bailie and Marcus Schmickler, as well as several Italian premieres: As I Live And Breathe by Morton Subotnick, the reconstruction of GLIA by Maryanne Amacher, Robert Henke’s celebrated work Commodore cbm 8032, and a new production of the cycle Professor Bad Trip by Fausto Romitelli.

 

Andrea Liberovici and Paolo Zavagna, Anthea Caddy and Marcin Pietruszewski, Tania Cortés, Alberto Anhaus, Louis Braddock Clarke will participate with installative sound works designed for specific spaces in the city of Venice.

 

Various concerts conceived for the spaces of the Teatro alle Tese, will be performed by: Lamin Fofana, Jjjjjerome Ellis, Jace Clayton AKA Dj Rupture, Steve Goodman AKA Kode9, Loraine James, Aya, Emme, S280F, Soft Break, Yen Tech, Snufkin, the sound designers and composers Nicolas Becker e Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, the Congolese performer and activist David Shongo and the English collective Autechre.

 

Wolfgang Mitterer, John Zorn, Andrea Marcon and Luca Scandali will perform in the Chiese di San Giorgio, San Salvador and San Trovaso and in Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello, revealing the organs built in Venice by Gaetano Callido, Pietro Nacchini, Franz Zanin and Jürgen and Hendrik Ahrend.

 

Finally projects in installative form, online compositional projects and events in the form of concerts involving the use of new technologies linked to digital sound, by Jaehoon Choi, Lydia Krifka Dobes, Fabio Machiavelli, Estelle Schorpp, Severin Dornier, Leonie Strecker and Alexis Weaver, Brigitta Muntendorf,  the collective formed by Guy Ben-Ary and Nathan Thompson.

 

Four Lezioni di musica on Rai Radio3, curated by Paola Damiani and presented by Giovanni Bietti, will investigate the organ repertoire of the sixteenth-century Scuola veneziana.
