Experience the
Lido of Venice
Venice can be reached by car.
Well yes, in this lagoon city where cars are not permitted to drive around, transport runs on water and even bicycles are banned, you can plan a car journey via the Lido. Lido Island is located between Venice and the Adriatic Sea and is one of the few islands in the lagoon where there are roads that can be travelled by car.
You can easily get to Venice from here by parking your car at much more affordable rates than on the outskirts of the city.
From the mainland, on the other hand, arriving by car from Mestre, you can arrive at Venice Lido by ferry boat line 17 from the Tronchetto stop, where you can also take your car. The route is the same as that from Punta Sabbioni, has the same prices, runs every 50 minutes until late in the evening, and reaches Lido in about 35 minutes. It is always advisable to book the routes, especially during the summer season.
At the Lido of Venice you can leave your car comfortably and safely on the street without having to pay for parking (we advise you to look for a free parking space on Via Sandro Gallo, the main street that crosses the entire island and where you can start visiting the most interesting points of the island).

Tickets can be purchased here
Punta Sabbioni is at the southern end of the municipality of Cavallino-Treporti, just across from Venice Lido. A good way to get to Venice by car is to take the ferry boat (line 17, only four trips for week, consult here the timetable) from here and arrive on the Lido by car. The fare is €13 for non-residents in Venice in cars up to four metres in length, to which the cost per person must be added.
Personal tickets can be purchased on a timed basis (24 hours or more) and allow you to move around the city and islands on all waterbuses, buses, Ferries and People Movers.
Or, you can leave your car in Cavallino-Treporti and continue by waterbus: near the Punta Sabbioni landing point there are several pay car parks, either secured or on blue lines.
This option is suitable for organising a seaside holiday enjoying Lido di Venezia’s beaches, and from there you can then reach the centre of Venice.
A further option is to arrive in Venice from Chioggia. This requires parking at Località Saloni di Chioggia and then taking the waterbus (line 11 for Ca’ Roman-Pellestrina-Lido-Venice), which stops first at Pellestrina on Lido and then at Alberoni Faro Rocchetta.
There is no ferry boat from Chioggia where you can also take your car, but around Isola Saloni in Chioggia you can leave your vehicle in several paid and free car parks.
From here, you can visit the island of Pellestrina, an oasis of nature and fishing and lace-making villages, before continuing on to Lido di Venezia.
