Bruce Nauman and Marlene Dumas at Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana

Events

Also in 2022, Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana will host major international exhibitions.

“Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies”

Until 27 November 2022 at Punta della Dogana, Venice

“Marlene Dumas. open-end”

From 27 March 2022 to 8 January 2023 at Palazzo Grassi, Venice

The two museums of contemporary art of the Pinault Collection in Venice, restored by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando and easily accessible from the Lido (vaporetto line 6), have hosted solo shows of illustrious contemporary artists over the years. These include Damien Hirst with his extraordinary Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable in 2018 and the exhibition Le Grand Jeu, dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson, in 2020.

This year, the spaces of Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana host the works of two of the most influential figures in contemporary art.

The first, open at Punta della Dogana until 27 November 2022, is dedicated to Bruce Nauman: American sculptor, photographer, performance artist and winner of the Golden Lion at the 2009 Biennale.

His “Contrapposto studies” use new video installations to reinterpret one of his 1968 works, Walk with Contrapposto, as well as other historical works that accompany the visitor in an immersive experience along the entire length of the exhibition.

The second exhibition is the solo show of Marlene Dumas, which opened to the public on 27 March at Palazzo Grassi and can be visited until 8 January 2023. “open-end” is a journey through the output of this South African artist who studied fine arts during apartheid, and includes over a hundred paintings and drawings produced from 1984 to today.

Both exhibitions are open every day, except Tuesdays, from 10 am to 7 pm. Last entry at 6 pm.

Full ticket €15 to visit both exhibitions.
