IT WAS IN APRIL 1967 THAT THE IDEA OF FOUNDING THE FIRST “REMIERA” (“ROWING”) SOCIETY IN VENICE LIDO WAS BORN IN THE FOUNDERS’ FERTILE MINDS.
When Club Nautico San Marco was born, there were about ten members, but over the years, the number grew, and today there are approximately 250 members.
The activities carried out by the club are mainly aimed at promoting Venetian-style rowing (the “voga alla veneta”), and for this reason, it offers various types of courses with free starter lessons.
The association has a functioning tank at its disposal, which is used both for training experts and for beginners’ first approach to rowing: the arrangement of the forks, the position of the legs, and so on.
Furthermore, Remiera has an Events Committee which organizes social regattas, parades and sporting events in collaboration with various institutional realities. The Remiera San Marco rowing club is also committed to social work, with days dedicated to raising funds for the “City of Hope” and entertainment for the children of Chernobyl.
The Club Nautico San Marco was the architect of numerous successes in the historic regatta of the Maritime Republics, proudly upholding the name of Venice with its victories in the 1960s and 1970s.
We should not forget the contribution made, in the years in which the club was taking its first steps, by Magistrate Piero Pisani, who honored the club with the gift of a gondola.
