Special Olympics brightens Venice Lido
Inclusive sports land on the lagoon!
From 9th to 11th June, Venice Lido becomes the centre for inclusive sports with Play The Games, the event organised by Special Olympics that will bring together over 500 athletes with intellectual disabilities.
For over 50 years, Special Olympics have been promoting participation in sport among children and adults with intellectual disabilities by proposing activities throughout the year. In Italy, Play The Games is now in its fifth edition and is crossing the country with a tour that stops in Venice.
Athletes, coming from all over Italy, will compete in five different disciplines ranging from rowing to golf, from karate to tennis, and even open water swimming. Don’t miss the official opening ceremony on Saturday 10th June at 9 pm, on the iconic red carpet of the Palazzo del Cinema.
